Fire extinguishing systems according to FIA standard 8865-2015 use a newly developed technology that delivers larger amounts of extinguishing agent in a shorter time and thus enables significantly higher extinguishing performance with shorter extinguishing times compared to conventional systems. The FIA ​​standard 8865-2015 is a milestone in the development of safety equipment.

It has been mandatory for all WRC, R5, T1, S2000, RGT and since 1 January 2018 also for all GT3 vehicles – it is recommended for all other motorsport categories. To meet the high demands of this new standard, some of the complete vehicle systems work with separate containers - for improved extinguishing performance and with the extinguishing agent best suited for the cockpit and engine compartment.
